Evolve Direct Primary Care is commenting on what our providers feel is a very likely case of Ebola which has been discovered a mere 35 miles or so from Annapolis. This woman who had recently been at the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak, in West Africa, was found vomiting in the parking lot of the Pentagon.

We believe it is important for residents–and healthcare workers–to be on alert to any person vomiting or running a high fever, with recent travel to West Africa. With a case of Ebola (likely) so close to home, we need to all pay more attention and increase our vigilance.

Ebola scare at the Pentagon: Woman vomiting leads to closed entrance, parking area

A woman who said she had recently returned from Africa vomited outside the Pentagon on Friday, prompting police to close a parking lot and entrance amid concerns about the spread of the Ebola virus.

The incident occurred about 9:10 a.m., said Lt. Col. Tom Crosson, a Pentagon spokesman. The officers found the woman in the Pentagon’s south parking lot, and the Arlington County Fire Department was notified.

“Out of an abundance of caution, all pedestrian and vehicular traffic was suspended around the South Parking lot, while Arlington County responded to the scene,” Crosson said. The woman was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital in nearby Falls Church, Va., he added.

Lanes 7 through 23 at the Pentagon remained close until further notice, along with the Corridor 2 entrance to the building, Crossing said. More information will be released when it becomes available, he added.

UPDATE: Arlington County authorities told The Washington Post that the woman had specifically visited western Africa, the point of origin for the Ebola crisis, which has killed more than 3,500 people. Officials “have no information or conditions to confirm this is Ebola,” said Brian McGraw, a deputy fire marshal with Arlington County Fire.
